Regarding the NYT McCain story, there was another “controversy” when Goldwater ran in 1964 since he was born in Arizona before it was a state. But this one is so stupid, I’ll bet you it was thought up by a journalism student just trying to find a way to disqualify McCain. Hot Air almost immediately provided the law that says that, yes, McCain is a natural born citizen:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naturalization_Act_of_1795
Someone on Hot Air had their comment featured when they said it was good he wasn’t born on February 29, cause then they’d be debating if he was 35 years old.
I remember reading the Diggbats one day claiming that since Guiliani was knighted by the Queen it was illegal for him to be president. I’m sure they’d feel just as strongly if it was Obama. You can probably find technical reasons to disqualify all of them, but none of them would hold up in any court.
As much as Obama is said to not be “black enough”, Michelle is way, way beyond being “black enough” that together they just might average out to assuage people’s “concerns”.
I’ll have to try out that Krispy Kreme burger sometime and let you know how it is.
